Where Oak Hill is
Oak Hill is on the west side of the river in Pawtucket. The city groups it with West Riverview as planning District 3, the area east of Pawtucket Avenue out to the river, in its 2017 Comprehensive Plan.
Two city facilities are in its planning district. The Tom Duffy (Oakhill) Complex at Cleveland and Sheffield Streets has four tennis courts, a basketball court and a playground. The Max Read Athletic Complex on Pleasant Street has a lighted football and soccer field, a 400 meter track and baseball fields.

When city staff met with Oak Hill residents on June 16, 2014, the things people liked best included the green spaces and trees, the walking track at Max Read Field, the tennis courts, the playgrounds and both cemeteries. Road maintenance and the need for more recreation space were among the concerns.
If your lot has mature trees, plan the leaf work before the city season ends instead of after, so the last bags still get picked up.

Leaf and yard waste pickup in Oak Hill (2026)
- Pickup runs through December 11, 2026. Put yard waste out on your regular trash day.
- Use brown paper yard waste bags (sold at local hardware stores) or a barrel of 33 gallons or less clearly labeled "yard waste". Plastic bags are not allowed.
- Keep yard waste separate. Bags mixed with household trash are not collected.
- Scrap wood and building materials are not part of the program.
- You can also drop off at the Grotto Ave. Transfer Station: 3 paper yard waste bags, 3 barrels of 32 gallons or less, and 3 bundles per the city guidelines (no longer than 3 feet or wider than 12 inches, no branches thicker than 3 inches).
Questions go to Pawtucket DPW at 401-728-0500 ext. 233. If you would rather not bag it yourself, a leaf removal crew can bag it for city pickup or haul it away. Ask which one the quote includes.

Snow rules on Oak Hill streets
- Sidewalks must be cleared within the first 12 hours of daylight after a storm ends. Ice has to be cleared or covered with sand within two daytime hours.
- The owner, the occupant or whoever has care of the property is responsible.
- Snow from the sidewalk cannot go into the street or onto a neighbor's property.
- Fines: $25 for a first offense, $50 for a second and $100 after that.
- The city usually declares an on-street parking ban when 2 or more inches of snow are forecast. Max Read Field, 540 Pleasant St., is one of the west side lots open during a ban. Cars have to leave the lot within two hours after the ban is lifted, or they can be towed or fined $100.
Seniors can join the waiting list for the city's snow shoveling help through the Leon Mathieu Senior Center, (401) 728-7582. The city says the program is at capacity, and fines are waived for seniors on the list.
